The studio when all new and clean

I am a Canadian painter living in Vancouver BC. I've exhibited in solo and group shows in Vancouver, Montreal, Toronto, Miami, Bedminster New Jersy, and Newfoundland and online at Curating Contemporary and Galerie Cerulean.  My work was presented by the Jeffrey Boone Gallery of Vancouver at the Toronto International Art Fair and the Affordable Art Fair in Miami and is in collections in countries throughout the world.

I work in oil paint allowing ideas to grow on the paper as I paint. I try not to impose restrictions on the paintings. Each series revolves around a theme that stirs me at the time of making.  I spend much of my time in nature as a hiker, camper, backpacker. Recently my response to my experience in nature is reflected in the paintings I make. I work on each series until I feel a sense of completion and a need to move on.

I let my responses to what I see around me find expression as I work in the same way I allow my knowledge of colour and paint be expressed. I let the painting happen without imposing clarity in any definitive way. The titles for each painting emerge as I work and are integral to the piece, sometimes I write them on the painting itself.
